Second Opinions

When the unthinkable happens, and your child receives a serious diagnosis such as cancer, it's devastating to the child and their family. It is normal to have questions and want more than one medical evaluation and opinion.

The consultants and staff members of our Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders are ready to help patients, families and referring doctors.  

For Patients and Families

Here is the information you will need in preparation for your second opinion appointment: 

  1. Medical records
  2. Key imaging studies on CD’s accompanied by printed local reports
  3. Relevant pathology slides and printed local reports.
  4. Other key laboratory data reports

For Referring Physicians

The Hospital’s One Call Physician Assistance Line is always available to you for admissions and ED referrals to our main campus location and Phoenix Children’s Medical Group (PCMG) subspecialty consultations. Physicians in the Phoenix metropolitan area may call (602) 933-3627 (DOCS). Physicians outside the Valley may call (888) 933-3627 (DOCS).

If you are a physician and would like to refer a patient to the Children's Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders, please be prepared to provide the following information: 

  1. Your patient's medical records
  2. Key imaging studies on CD’s accompanied by printed local reports
  3. Relevant pathology slides and printed local reports.
  4. Other key laboratory data reports
